OPEN DOG
SHOW
This year, will be the 85th Annual Dog Show held under the banner of Barrowford
Agricultural Show.
The show is organised by Ginnette Simpson and a small committee of canine enthusiasts
who are keen to run a family show which people enjoy and want to come
back to year after year. We generally have around 250 to 300 dogs entered,
many of which enter several classes and regularly we have an entry of
500 or more.
The show will be 148 Class Unbenched Open Show and will be held under
Kennel Club Rules. All entries must be received by Saturday August 5th
and all dogs must be Kennel Club registered and over the age of six months.
In the Breed Classes, a best of Breed and Best Puppy will be declared
which entitles the winners to go forward into the Best in Show Competition,
providing they remain unbeaten. In the Variety Classes, all dogs which
remain unbeaten are eligible to enter for the best in show competition.
This year the best in Show judge will be Mr A. Rostron. He will judge
the Variety Classes and will then select his Best in Show, Reserve Best
in Show, Best Puppy and Reserve Best in Show from all the dogs which have
remained unbeaten.
After this judging has taken place, a Stakes Class will be held in honour
of Jean Stopforth who served as the Secretary for many years and who was
a well known figure in the dog world, both locally and throughout the
country.
